The SWSAS Volleyball program is delivered in partnership with Volleyball NSW and the Regional Academies of Sport (RAS) network.

The program forms part of the Volleyball NSW Athlete
Development Pathway and provides selected athletes with technical coaching, education, and exposure to competition environments aligned to state-level development. The program is focused on developing U14–U18 athletes across regional NSW, ensuring talent is nurtured locally and prepared for potential transition into state and national programs.

Program Objectives

Core Objectives

  • Pathway Progression: Advances regional athletes into state and national development systems.
  • Holistic Growth: Blends technical and physical training with performance education and wellbeing.
  • Elite Competition: Prepares selected athletes for the Academy Games and designated events. 
  • Coach Mentoring: Upgrades regional coaching standards through targeted state- level collaboration.

Selected athletes will receive:

  • Structured on-field technical and tactical coaching.
  • Strength and conditioning support throughout the program.
  • Access to performance education workshops (nutrition, wellbeing, mental performance).
  • Opportunity to compete at the Academy Games and designated state development events.
  • Exposure to Volleyball NSW talent identification staff and state selection opportunities.
  • Program delivered in alignment with national development frameworks. 

Additional Program Benefits:

  • Access to the Academy’s online performance and athlete monitoring platform.
  • Official Regional Academy uniform and apparel (additional costs apply).
  • Nomination support for athlete awards and scholarships.
  • Media exposure and community engagement opportunities.
  • Eligibility to apply for Academy partner recognitions and development awards.

Program Eligibility Criteria

Athletes must: 

Be eligible for the target age groups:
Under 14 to Under 18 (U14–U18) –
Age grouping will be based on an athletes
age as of the 31st of Dec in the year of the program.

  • 2026-27 Program birth years
    include (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 & 2014)

In special circumstances 18-year-olds may be jointly considered by VNSW and RAS for inclusion, noting
this may not include competition opportunities.

Athletes must: 

  • Reside within, attend school, or play for an association in the regional catchment area. (Liverpool, Campbelltown, Camden or Wollondilly LGA’s) 
  • Be a registered and financial member of a Volleyball NSW affiliated association.
  • Participate in a Volleyball NSW-endorsed trial process or be identified by VNSW coaches.
  • Commit to full program attendance and meet all engagement and conduct expectations.
  • Complete required RAS, Sport Integrity Australia and Volleyball NSW education modules.

An athlete scholarship levy will apply, covering the above-listed program benefits and facilities.
Uniform costs are additional, with volleyball-specific and SWSAS uniform items purchased through the official
supplier.
Additional event costs apply for competition events, development & selection camps, and other pathway travel events.
