The HAS Mountain Bike program is delivered in partnership with AusCycling and the Regional Academies of Sport (RAS) network.

This program provides a high‑performance development pathway for talented young riders, focusing on technical skills, strength and conditioning, athlete education, and personal growth. It aligns with the AusCycling curriculum and connects athletes to state and national pathways. This program caters for athletes in Gravity Enduro (GE) and Cross Country (XCO).

Athletes receive targeted skill development, seasonal training support, and preparation for high‑performance trials. The program includes practical education in areas such as S&C, nutrition, sports psychology and injury management, along with opportunities to represent HAS at events, inter‑academy sessions and camps.

  • Strength & Conditioning assessment and programming
  • Sports science testing and high‑performance training support
  • Opportunities to represent HAS at events
  • Education in technical, tactical, and personal MTB development
  • Academy uniform kit (additional cost)

  • Community engagement and corporate partner exposure
  • Promotion through HAS media channels

Program Eligibility Criteria

Athletes must:

  • Athletes must be eligible in the following AusCycling Age groups: U15s, U17 & U19 age category in 2026 (Born in years 2007 – 2012 inclusive).
  • Registered with a Local Club/Association and a current financial member of AusCycling
  • Reside in one of the following LGAs: Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock, Port Stephens, Dungog, Singleton, Muswellbrook, Upper Hunter Shire, Mid-Coast.
An athlete levy will apply, covering the above listed program benefits and more. Uniform costs are additional, with MTB‑specific and HAS items purchased through the official supplier. Additional event costs may apply for AusCycling pathway events.
