Nominations for the 2026/27 program later in the year

The HAS Cycling program is part of a partnership with the Regional Academies of Sport (RAS) and AusCycling NSW.

This program provides a high‑performance development pathway for talented young cyclists, focusing on technical skills, strength and conditioning, athlete education, and personal growth. 

Athletes receive targeted skill development, seasonal training support, and preparation for high‑performance races. The program includes practical education in areas such as S&C, nutrition, sports psychology and injury management, along with opportunities to represent HAS at events, inter‑academy sessions and camps.

Selected athletes receive:

  • Strength & Conditioning assessment and programming
  • Sports science testing and high‑performance training support
  • Opportunities to represent HAS at events
 

Additional HAS benefits:

  • Community engagement and corporate partner exposure
  • Promotion through HAS media channels

Program Eligibility Criteria

Athletes must:

  • Be competing in the U15, U17 or U19 age category in 2026
  • Be committed to progressing to higher representation within Cycling.
  • Be a registered member of a Cycling club within the Hunter region.
  • Reside in one of the following LGAs: Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Cessnock, Port Stephens, Dungog, Singleton, Muswellbrook, Upper Hunter Shire, Mid-Coast.
An athlete levy will apply, covering the above listed program benefits and more. Uniform costs are additional, with Cycling‑specific and HAS items purchased through the official supplier. Additional event costs may apply.
