UNE at Your Local Club Regional Academy Games: Your future in exercise and sports science starts here

This story is proudly supported by the University of New England, a key partner in the delivery of the 2026 Your Local Club Regional Academy Games.

The University of New England (UNE) is proud to support the 2026 Your Local Club Regional Academy Games in Tamworth, bringing together the state’s most talented young athletes. For athletes and their families, we want you to know we’re here to support you and to show you how you can turn your love of sport into a career!

Why UNE believes in regional talent

Athletes like you represent the best of our state. You’ve trained hard, pushed your limits, and developed the discipline that separates champions from the rest. That same commitment is exactly what drives success at university and beyond. UNE has a strong track record of supporting young athletes who want to balance high-level competition with quality education.

Exercise and Sports Science at UNE

If you’ve ever wondered about the science behind your performance—why certain training methods work, how nutrition fuels your body, or what careers exist in sports—our sports science degrees explore all of this and more. Our programs combine practical experience with cutting-edge research, preparing you for careers as exercise scientists, strength and conditioning coaches, exercise physiologists, or performance analysts.

Many of our students compete at regional and national levels while studying. We understand the demands on your time and offer flexible learning options to help you succeed both on and off the field.

Brendon Kassman, Accredited Exercise Scientist and Academic Tutor at UNE, will be at our site this weekend. With over a decade of experience working with high-performance athletes, Brendon understands what it takes to excel in sport and education simultaneously.

“Your sports and your studies aren’t in competition with one–another. Aligned with a high-performance mindset, they contribute to building stronger, smarter and resilient athletes on track for long-term success,” Brendon said.
