Athletes and families attending the Your Local Club Regional Academy Games will have the chance to gain rare insights into high‑performance sport, with a special Performance Pathways Q&A confirmed for Saturday 18 April, from 4:00–5:00pm at the Showcourt, Tamworth Sports Dome.
RAS, together with the Australian Olympic Committee and the NSW Office of Sport will bring together an exciting panel of Olympians and industry leaders who will share their journeys, challenges, and practical advice for aspiring athletes. This free event promises to be both inspiring and informative for the RAS and wider Northern Inland community.
The panel features three visiting Olympians:
- Emily Chalker – Hockey Olympian and dual Commonwealth Games medallist
- Natalie Burton – Australian Opals basketballer and Olympian
- Jaz Hedgeland – Olympic triathlete and rising star of the sport
Joining them is Dr Juanita Weissensteiner from the NSW Office of Sport, a leading expert in talent pathways and athlete development.
The Performance Pathways Q&A aims to give athletes and their families a behind‑the‑scenes look at what it takes to progress through elite sporting systems – from grassroots to the world stage. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn directly from those who have lived the journey, ask questions, and be inspired by the experiences of Australia’s top sporting talent.
This event is free and open to all athletes, families, and supporters attending the Academy Games, aswell as the wider Northern Inland community.
