Golf - WRAS DEVELOPMENT PATHWAY

Nominations for the 2026/27 program are now open

The WRAS Golf Development Pathway is designed to provide support to junior golfers in the Western Region looking to make the next step in their golfing development.

This program provides a high‑performance development pathway for talented young local golfers, focusing on technical skills, strength and conditioning, athlete education, and personal growth. 

Athletes receive targeted skill development and seasonal training support. The program includes practical education in areas such as S&C, nutrition, sports psychology and injury management.

WRAS Golf Development Athletes are encouraged to participate in local and state golf events and will be given the skills to improve in the areas of their game most pertinent to their success.

  • Access to quality training facilities
  • Strength & Conditioning assessment and programming
  • Sports science testing and high‑performance training support
  • Opportunities to represent WRAS at events*
  • Education in technical, tactical, and personal Golf development
  • Academy uniform kit (additional cost)
  • Support and confidence to engage in higher level competitions through targeted preparation and review

Program Eligibility Criteria

  • Must be available to attend the WRAS 2026-7 Golf Talent ID Day on Sunday 16th August at Duntryleague Golf Club
  • Golfers must be turning 12 to 17 years of age in 2027.   
  • Golfers must reside or attend school in the WRAS catchment area.  
  • Golfers must be a current registered member of Golf NSW and their local golf club.    
  • Handicap criteria - boys 12 and under*, girls 18 and under*  
  • Reside in one of the following LGAs: Bathurst Regional, Bland, Blayney, Cabonne, Cowra, Dubbo Regional, Forbes, Gilgandra, Hilltops, Lachlan, Lithgow, Mid-Western Regional, Narromine, Oberon, Orange, Parkes and Weddin.
 

*Golfers with a handicap above those listed are encouraged to apply and attend our WRAS Talent ID Day

An athlete levy will apply, covering the above listed program benefits and more. Uniform costs are additional, with Golf‑specific and WRAS items purchased through the official supplier. Additional event costs may apply for Academy Games and other pathway events.

September 2026 – June 2027

WRAS 2026-7 Golf Talent ID Day on Sunday 16th August at Duntryleague Golf Club (times and any further details to be confirmed and communicated upon nominations closing)

Recommended/targeted events to be determined once the squad has been confirmed.

Monthly training events and weekly strength and conditioning sessions to be communicated when confirmed.
